Memorial Health System is a Level II trauma center staffed 24 hours a day by trauma surgeons, specially trained nurses and support staff. Most trauma patients are seen first in the emergency department. Once patients are stabilized, the trauma team takes over. This team stays with you or your family member throughout the critical care stage providing valuable care, communication and comfort to both the patient and family members.

Memorial Hospital Central's Trauma Center is one of the busiest in Colorado. It is easy to understand why. Our new Emergency Department and state-of-the art equipment, Memorial Hospital for Children, and our adult, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units make Memorial the right choice when seconds count.

If you require emergency medical attention, call 911.

Injury Prevention

We take injury prevention just as seriously as the cure. That's why we've been involved in injury prevention and community education since 1987. Some of the programs we're involved in include:

  • Safe Kids Colorado - A community-based coalition lead by Memorial Hospital for Children focused on injury to children ages 14 and under. Programs include Child Passenger Safety, Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety and Home Safety. http://www.safekids.org/

  • ThinkFirst Colorado Springs - This program seeks to prevent brain and spinal cord injuries by teaching children from elementary through high school the dangers associated with driving without seatbelts, skiing or skateboarding without helmets, violence and drinking or taking drugs while driving.

  • Buckle Up! - The goal of this program is to ensure that every child is properly restrained in a child safety seat regardless of the parent’s ability to pay.
